Down Home Music: Iberville and the Surrounding Parishes

On May 20, 2022, the Iberville Museum will open the exhibition Down Home Music: Iberville and the Surrounding Parishes. This exhibit provides a glimpse at the many musicians who brought their musical gifts down to Iberville. From natives to transplants to those just passing through, countless musicians, artists, and producers have contributed to the parish’s musical heritage. With this collection of photographs and vinyl 45 records, we wish to highlight and celebrate the local musicians who have created a sound–across multiple genres–that is so uniquely Louisiana.
The exhibit will open with a reception on May 20, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, featuring free admission and refreshments. Across the street from the museum, at the Waterfront Park, the band Foret Traditions will perform for Boogie on the Bayou between 5:30 – 8:30.
This exhibition was prepared in collaboration with Allen Kirkland, Plaquemine native, retired teacher, and local music enthusiast!
