Celebrating a Plaquemine-honored tradition this annual festival began in 1969!

The Evangeline Mass will take place on October 12th at 4 PM. The water ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 19th at 5:30 PM as part of the Acadian Festival weekend.

The Water Ceremony begins as the sun goes down and torches in the bayou are lit. The canoes, paddled by Indians, begin their journey down Bayou Plaquemine carrying the Indian Princesses as they herald the way for Evangeline. Fireworks and music complete the event at the park.

The International Acadian festival parade will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20  at 10:30 AM. The parade traditionally begins at the Carl F. Grant Civic Center, Belleview Road (La Hwy 75) and ends at the Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park.

This event is sponsored by KC Council #970.
