Tucked onto the rolling fields of Sugar Farms in S Tucked onto the rolling fields of Sugar Farms in St. Gabriel, Istrouma Eatery & Brewery is less a bar and more a laid‑back “beer farm” experience. Think barn‑turned‑tap room, picnic tables shaded by oak trees, lawn games, and friendly farm animals roaming nearby—it’s a place where kiddos can feed goats while you sip on local brews.

Pull up a chair on the porch or inside the bright‑red barn, and dive into an extensive beer lineup—from crisp blondes like Golden Retriever to tangy sours, stouts, farmhouse ales, and rotating seasonal taps. Plus, house‑made lemonades and cocktails make it fun for all ages.

The food menu is just as enticing: scratch-made pizzas (garlicky crusts piled with toppings from pepperoni to pickled okra or deviled egg), tacos, shareables like poke nachos and hummus plates, and fresh seasonal apps.

Tucked along the Mississippi River in the communit Tucked along the Mississippi River in the community of Carville stands one of the most historically significant landmarks in Iberville Parish — the National Hansen’s Disease Museum.

Once the site of the only hospital in the continental U.S. solely dedicated to the treatment of Hansen’s disease (leprosy), the facility housed patients from the late 1800s until its closure in 1999.

Today, the museum preserves the powerful stories of those who lived here in isolation — telling a deeply human narrative of stigma, resilience, and medical innovation that spans more than a century.

In 2024, the museum unveiled a series of renovations and updated exhibits that further spotlight the activism, advocacy, and untold histories that continue to shape conversations around public health and human rights.
